| Datuk Shah Rukh Khan |
The Bollywood star, Shah Rukh Khan has been given Malaysia's equivalent of a knighthood in a move criticized by opposition lawmakers and the public. He is among 78 people to get the award in conjunction with the governor's 70th birthday, alongside the country's navy chief, academics, artists and journalists. So, from now on, we should refer to King Khan as Datuk Shah Rukh Khan :D
 He has been conferred the honor for promoting Malaka state after filming a movie there and for his contribution to the region's film industry. The local state think that SRK has helped develop the huge, income-earning Bollywood movie industry in Malaka state and promote the Malaysia as a tourist destination.
The star of Kabhie Khushi Khabie Gham was also conferred the prestigious Officer of Arts and Literature (Ordre des Arts et des Lettres)from French ambassador, Jerome Bonnafont, in Mumbai last January. He mentioned SRK as one of the great artists in Bollywood that had taken the charm of India cinema the world over.
Ordre des Arts et des Lettres created in 1957, the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres or Officer of Arts and Literature, is one of the four prestigious ministerial honours of French Republic. It recognizes French citizen as well as foreign artists who have gained fineness in the field of arts and literature.
Shahrukh have joined novelist Arundhati Roy, actress Sharmila Tagore and Adoor Gopal Krishnan who are the other Indian recipient of the same. He also included among the Hollywood stars George Clooney, Leonardo Di Caprio, Clint Eastwood, Mery Streep and Bruce Willis who were earlier conferred with the honour.
